This morning, the chanichim went to Wild Air and had a chance to jump around. But, that is only the beginning of the excitement.

Tonight marks the first Shabbat for the chanichim in Machaneh 2012. For some it will be their first Shabbat in camp ever, others more, but for all it will be memorable. Make to sure to check back here on Motzei Shabbat for updates and pictures.

Today we all got to be real warriors…Jump Rope Warriors that is. We had the pleasure of learning directly from the great Jump Rope Warrior. He came to camp and each kvutzah was given time to learn his tricks during the afternoon. At night, he put on a special presentation for us. Click here to see the Moshava Minute about it.

So many chugim to choose from, it was hard to decide. We had an exciting day with the beginning of chugim (electives). Chanichim were able to select from a variety of choices such as drama, baking, melechet yad, boys’ dance and so many more!

The night tochnit consisted of activities that allowed the chanichim to simulate the Six Day War. Using the techniques that they learned yesterday, they were sure to succeed (much like the actual IDF).

We look forward to continuing our camp journey through our noseh, Moshevet Medinateinu.

There’s nothing like that first morning in camp. You’re not used to the special time zone yet. Things start early and you’re ready to have FUN! Today was no exception.

The chanichim experienced excitement and thrills during their first day of machaneh (camp). It was a day filled with sports, arts and crafts, shiur and swim tests. The chanichim also chose their chugim (tracks) for the summer (tomorrow they will start). Their was elimination in the valley, basketball in the gym, kickball at Shmeggs and so much more. The fun continued on…

At night the chanichim participated in the unification of the Israeli Defense Forces. They were involved in drills, special training and preparation for the establishment of the State of Israel. Click here to see a Moshava Minute about the night tochnit.

We would also like to welcome Rabbi Zvi and Laurie Engel and their family to camp. Rabbi Engel is the Rabbi of Congregation Or Torah in Skokie, Il. and will be joining us through Sunday.

As the chanichim stepped of the buses this afternoon, the energy and excitement felt by everyone was extremely apparent. After a jam-packed opening and an uplifting first Shabbat, all the tzevet was eagerly awaiting the arrival of the chanichim. All the chanichim were welcomed by the tzevet and ushered inside for lice check and to hear who their kvutza-mates and madrichim would be.

We announced that the Nosei of the month will be Moshevet Medinateinu, focusing on modern day Israel from 1948 through present day. Each day will touch upon and highlight key events, places, and players that helped shaped our land. As everyone continues to get settled, it is already clear that this will be a fantastic month filled with great opportunities for fun, friendship, and learning.

<p>  <span style="font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: JA; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;">Since this past Wednesday, the <em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">tzevet </em>(staff) at Camp Moshava have been working endlessly to ensure that the camp is ready for a fun summer.</span></p>

Yesterday, the tzevet (staff) and Avodah buses arrived in camp. Everyone rushed off with excitement in their eyes.

Over the next few days, until the rest of the chanichim (campers) arrive, tzevet will be participating in seminars that focus on their roles, safety and having a great time here in camp. They have already spent time in sessions with our director, Josh Zwelling, the Rosh Mosh, Rachel Shandalov and some speciality staff from outside of camp. “It feels like we never left camp,” said Rachel Shandalov. “Everyone is already in full “camp-mode” and really excited about the chanichim’s arrival. I am already beyond impressed with this year’s tzevet and I look forward to a memorable summer.”

The Avodah program is already in full-swing. The chanichim have already been setting up different areas in camp. “I’ve never seen kids so excited to work,” said Rosh Avodah, Hillel “HK” Katz. “They arrived and said, “Ok, what can we do?”. I think that this summer will be filled with growth for these chanichim in both the areas of Torah and Avodah. I can already tell that I will learn so much from them!”

Last Tuesday evening over 50 women and men from across Chicago and the Northern Suburbs joined together at Congregation Or Torah to Mahj for Mosh. This was the second annual Moshava Mah Jongg Madness event, bringing together people with two loves, Mah Jongg and Moshava Wild Rose. With numerous prize giveaways and a cash raffle, the excitement was electric. What a treat it was for the partipants to see the many ways in which the game can be played, and the people of many ages that are excited about the game. The first hour was designated as the tutorial hour and we had a great turn out of women who wanted to learn to play. So, keep your eyes and ears open for next year’s invitation to the Moshava Mah Jongg Madness event to help support Camp Moshava, and if you want to learn to play the game we will be there to teach you.

Yesterday, on the eve of Yom HaZikaron, Camp Moshava of Wild Rose, WI hosted a screening of “Follow Me: The Yoni Netanyahu Story.” Ari Pinchot, the films director, spoke to the large crowd about Operation Entebbe and Israels commitment to protect the Jewish people.
