Moshevet Alo Na’aleh

Moshevet Alo Na’aleh is off to a great start!

My name is Yitzi Matanky and I am the Rosh Mosh this month in machaneh.  This is my third summer in this position and I’m as excited as ever.  Over the past year, I have been planning a fun, exciting, and educational summer for the chanichim.  I am delighted to be working alongside Esti Nussbaum, a veteran sganit.  She and I really look forward to this month.

This month, the noseh of Alo Na’aleh focuses on Kibbutz Galuyot, the promise given to Moshe before his death.  This is the idea that all the people of Israel will gather together in the land of Israel.

There will be different peulot, shiurim, and sichot throughout the month that will tell this story of the Jewish people and specifically their many aliyot to Israel.  We will also discuss some of the many ideals of Bnei Akiva in our sichot.

Tonight we crossed the Yarden along with Yehoshua after spending 40 years in the Midbar.  The road was lit with specially prepared candles along our path.  We were led by the Aron, crossed the Jordan River, placed 12 stones down as a reminder of our journey, and finished with a shelet aish introducing this month’s noseh.

It is this very noseh that expresses the idea of the connection between the past, present, and future.  As the month goes on, we will travel through time ending with the modern day Aliyah.  It is our hope that the chanichim realize that living in the State of Israel is no longer a dream, but a reality.

I look forward to a great month.

-Yitzi
